Apple is proud to announce today that they have sold their 3 billionth song from the iTunes music store. This is a monumental achievement not only for Apple, but for digital music distribution.

“We’d like to thank all of our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes.

CD sales still dominate the market, but with Apple recently surpassing both Amazon and Target to become the third largest music seller in the US, things are definitely skewing digital.
