The End is Nigh: Windows 95 on an iPad

I remember very well the day that Windows 95 was released. Well, maybe I should say the night, then. Back before I had ever heard of camping out to get an iPad, I was working at Best Buy, slinging car stereos and home audio to the masses. We all knew about Windows 95, even all the way back in the Car-Fi department, because BB was planning a huge rollout for the new OS. It was going to be a midnight launch with balloons, and streamers and all that fun stuff. I was designated to work, of course, and I was thrilled with the concept.

The launch went as expected; Lots of guys in glasses, the smell of B.O. wafting through the air, and a few cameras just to spice things up. This was a big day for Microsoft, that’s for sure. I still know people using the OS today.

When it comes to the homebrew community, I love seeing what people will come up with next. In this case, it’s Windows 95 running via an emulator on the iPad. Why, you ask? Because they could, that’s why.

Get XP running on that thing, and I bet iPads will start moving like crazy.
